Reading

Reading is such a wonderful pastime. That moment when you get completely immersed in the life of the characters and lose track of time, your surroundings and any concerns you may have. My challenge to myself is to read more and hopefully post about what I’ve read.

My bookcase is ever-growing, full of books that I’ve brought myself or received as presents over the past few years. Some hold memories before I even start to read them and it is those books that I would like to read this year.

Here’s what I’ve read so far this year:

1. Let it snow – January 1st – 10th

WP_20150204_002 If all the books I read this year are this good then I am going to have an amazing year of reading. Let it snow was a Christmas present from my family and a book I couldn’t put down.

I loved that it was broken down into three short stories from different authors as this allowed me to get a taste for how other authors write. I thought Maureen Johnson’s short story was fantastic and I definitely want to read more of her work over the next few months.

2. Looking for Alaska by John Green – Jan 11th – currently still reading

3. A Heart So Big by Rio Hogarty WP_20150412_002

It has been a while since I have read a book like this and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It reminded me how much I love reading books about fostering and adoption. The reason for this – it reminds me there are some amazing and selfless people in the world who are often overlooked and do not receive the praise they deserve.

Although I have only just started reading this book I am already enjoying it. I read just over 1oo pages yesterday and didn’t want to put it down. I have read many of Cathy Glass’s books in the past and this has reminded me how much I enjoy her books.
